Job description
Job Title: Timber Frame Designer
Location: Leicestershire
Thorn Baker's Multiple Award-Winning client is looking for a Timber Frame Designer to join their team. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work for a company which values integrity, caring, and quality in all areas.
You will prepare, design and coordinate of closed- and open-panel timber frame designs and Building Information Models.

Your Responsibilities:
- Producing accurate and efficient wall and floor panel designs in line with specification, including producing cutting lists and CNC files for the factory
- Co-ordinating third-party floor & roof information
- Following CDM regulations throughout the design process
- Product development and innovation.
- Attend regular production meetings and site feedback meetings.
- Produce accurate Bills of Materials and ancillary Take-offs.
- Provide technical assistance to site teams and factory colleagues, wherever required.
Required Skills:
- Minimum of 2 years' experience in a similar role elsewhere, such as Modern Methods or Offsite Construction.
- Experience using 3D CAD software such as AutoCAD, Revit or Inventor. Also, WoodEngine, Consultec, Horizon, HSBcad or similar software is essential to the role.
- Proficient with Microsoft applications such as Excel, Word, and Teams required.
- Understanding of materials/components used in the construction of low-rise buildings, as well as current building regulations.
- Experience with steel detailing, "I" Joist floor design, and designing trussed roofs required.
- Revit & Pamir experience would be advantageous but not essential.
- Qualification in Architectural Technology would be advantageous but not essential.
KEY SKILLS: SMSTS, First Aid at Work, CSCS, Timber Frame Design, AutoCAD.
