Thorn Baker Industrial Recruitment are currently recruiting a Trainee Setter to work in a clean, modern and fast paced manufacturing environment in the Bilborough (NG8) of Nottingham.

Job Purpose

To set and operate designated equipment and machinery in a Trainee capacity, to manufacture product in line with Quality specifications and in accordance with the Production schedule. To assist and provide technical support at the desired level for the continuous improvement and development of manufacturing processes.

Pay & Benefits 

  • £11.74 starting salary 
  • Working Monday - Friday following a shift pattern of Days and Night Shifts 
  • You will work for 6-8 weeks on a day shift which is 7:00am - 16:00pm then for 2 weeks go onto a night shift which is 22:00pm - 6:00am. (This will continue on a rotational basis).
  • Full Training is provided
  • 25 holiday days plus bank holidays

Responsibitlies of this role

  • To set and run machines in a training capacity within production areas and under supervision where appropriate.
  • To support the production of quality precision components by ensuring machines run smoothly.
  • To assist and support skilled machine setters in day-to-day production.
  • To accurately measure components and log information using dedicated software.
  • To maintain and monitor machines within the department/work area to ensure they function as expected.
  • To adjust and/or replace tooling as required to the standard agreed with Trainer/Line Manager.
  • To support production in providing quality products to the customer specification and specific requirements.
  • To adhere to good housekeeping and 5S methods expected within the department.
  • To suggest and assist with improvement recommendations for the department or Company.

You must be able to commit to attending training, maintaining accurate training records, and developing skills and experience with the desire to achieve Setter role.

Experience/Qualifications 

  • Level 1 Maths & English or Equivalent 
  • Level 2 Maths is desirable 
  • Previous experience from a similar engineering/manufacturing environment 
  • Mechanical skills or knowledge is desirable 
  • Computer Literate
